1. Who We Are

Cartoon It is operated by Rekto Digital LLC, 30 N Gould St, Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA, which is the data controller for the information described here. Your photos are personal, and this page explains — in plain terms — exactly what happens to them.

2. What We Collect

Photos you upload, together with the story details you type, for the sole purpose of generating your comic.
Technical data: IP address, browser type and request logs, kept by our hosting provider for security, abuse prevention and debugging.
Purchase records: when you buy, our payment provider tells us the plan, the amount and a receipt reference. We never see or receive your card number.
Analytics, only if you accept cookies — see section 5.

3. What We Store — and Where

We never store your photos. Your upload is passed through to Google's Gemini API in the request and is not written to disk on our side at any point.

Your finished comic is stored for 24 hours, then deleted automatically. We hold it so that the pages you paid for can be delivered to you — including if your browser closes, crashes, or you come back later on another device. It is kept in private storage that is not reachable from the public internet, and it is released only to a browser presenting a payment receipt that our payment provider confirms covers that specific comic. After 24 hours a scheduled job deletes it, whether or not it was ever purchased.

We hold no database of customers and no long-term copy of anything you make. Everything else that persists is kept in your own browser, on your device, and never sent to us:

cartoonit_draft — your work in progress, so a refresh does not lose it.
cartoonit_project_history — your recent comics, so you can reopen them.
cartoonit_order_id — your purchase receipt reference, so your download stays unlocked.
cartoonit_consent — your cookie choice.

Clearing your browser data removes all of it permanently. Within the 24-hour window we can still re-deliver a comic you paid for; after that window we hold no copy and cannot restore it for you.

4. Who Else Processes Your Data

Google (Gemini API) — generates your comic from your photo. Google states that data sent through the paid API is not used to train its models.
Vercel — hosting and request logs.
Stripe — payment processing. Card details are entered on Stripe's systems, not ours, and never reach our servers.
Google Analytics — only after you accept cookies.
Microsoft Clarity — records how pages are used, so we can see where the site is confusing. Only after you accept cookies. Your photographs and your finished comic are masked out of these recordings and are never captured.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising.

5. Cookies and Analytics

Analytics and advertising storage start switched off. Nothing is measured and no identifier is sent until you accept on the cookie banner. Decline, and the site works exactly the same — you will simply not be counted. You can change your mind by clearing your browser data for this site.

If you accept, we also use Microsoft Clarity to record how pages are used — which buttons get clicked, where people get stuck. Your photographs, the camera preview and your finished comic are excluded from these recordings. They are marked as private in the page itself, so they are never sent to Clarity at all rather than being sent and then hidden. Decline, and Clarity is never loaded.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live — including under the UK/EU GDPR and the California CCPA — you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. California residents also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.

In practice most of this is already in your hands: because we hold no copy of your photos or comics, clearing your browser data deletes them outright. For anything held by our providers — request logs, or a purchase record — email us and we will action it within 30 days.

7. Children

Cartoon It is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. Comics of a child are welcome — but the photo must be uploaded by their parent or guardian. If you believe a child has used the service, contact us and we will delete what we can reach.
