Most disappointing results come from the same handful of avoidable choices. These five make the biggest difference, ordered by how much they matter.

1. Upload two or three photos of the same person

The highest-leverage thing you can do, and almost nobody does it. The cast is worked out by counting distinct faces, not photos — so several pictures of one person still produce one character, and the model gets more angles to build the likeness from.

One front-facing shot, one slight three-quarter, one with a different expression is close to ideal. You are giving the artist a fuller description of the face it must keep identical across every panel of every page.

2. Put a problem in your plot line

A story is a problem and its resolution. "A day at the beach" is a setting, so the writer has to invent the interesting part itself. "A day at the beach, and the ice cream falls in the sand right before the photo" has a beginning, a middle and an end.

One sentence containing something that goes wrong improves your comic more than any change of style or mood. Include real names and they reach the dialogue.

3. Match the style to the motion in your photo

• Movement — jumping, running, sport — suits Heroic style, built for dynamic poses and dramatic light.
• Still portraits and close-ups suit 3D pix art, which renders faces softly and warmly.
• Emotional or outdoor scenes suit Dreamy anime and its painted backgrounds.
• High drama suits Manga — but it is deliberately black and white, so colourful subjects lose their colour.

4. Choose length by what happens, not by budget

A single page tells a complete small story: setup, complication, turn, payoff. Right for one moment or one joke.

Two or three pages let it breathe. A problem introduced on one page and solved on another lands very differently from the same beats compressed into four panels. If your idea contains an "and then", you want more than one page.

5. Read the preview before you unlock

The preview is free, and it comes from the same script the full comic is drawn from. If the likeness is off, a stranger has appeared, or the story is not what you meant, regenerate with a different photo or a sharper plot line rather than unlocking and hoping.
